Cover with a DIY matte and 5x7 frame, makes a fine gift! General Jimmy Doolitle led a famous 1942 raid on Tokyo, Japan from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet CV-8. This was the first offensive action against the enemy islands, and greatly raised American morale. The flyers used B-25 bombers that were stripped of most equipment and heavily loaded with fuel. They had to launch early because an enemy picket vessel discovered their battle group closing on their home islands. The mission did bomb Tokyo and then the flyers had to land wherever they ran out of fuel, mostly in China. The group of survivors were in their late 80s and early 90s when they had their last annual reunion in November 2013. The last one of these heroes died in 2019. Seller has 4 other Doolittle Raid covers. Check out my other items! These items make fine gifts when mounted on a colored matte and placed in a 5x7 picture frame. Free US Shipping!
