Description: Penn Antique Restoration 35.5"x90"x1" Antique Exterior Storm Door w/Removable 12-Lite Window Panel Gorgeous, rare, antique, storm door salvaged from an old home in Northern Rhode Island. The door is made of solid Douglas Fir or pine and is painted white on the exterior side, and stained and finished on the interior side. When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. The door has a removable window that contains 12 glass lites, and 2 raised panels below. Although the door doesn't have a removable screen window, we could build one--email us for a quote. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit it (check out our eBay store). * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Condition: Considering the door is almost 120 years old, it's strong, sturdy, and in great structural condition. It does have a couple issues that should be repaired prior to refinishing. The original lock housing broke on one side; there are 3 cracks in the corner below the lock housing, and there are 2 chunks of wood which broke off of the exterior side of the removable window (see photos). These are not serious issues and are easy to repair--email us for a quote. Otherwise, expect nicks and scratches, but no rot, warp, broken/cracked joints, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes the door has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks." All of the glass is intact and also in great shape with only light scratches. Refinish/Repaint: We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. See the last photos in this auction as an example of our work. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. Swing: The door is currently set up to swing outwardly (away from the home) towards your right side. We could modify the door to make it swing in the opposite direction--email us for a quote. Modification: We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace glass with screen, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
