3rd Armored Division Full Color Patch - Spearhead - Army - Tank

Description: This is a fully embroidered 3rd Armored Division patch with a merrowed edge. It is the full color version. The patch measures approximately 3-3/4 inches in width by 4inches in height. This patch is new old stock. The 3rd Armored Division, nicknamed Spearhead, was activated on 15 April 1941 at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana. The 3rd first saw combat during WWII on 29 June 1944 in France. The Division was the "spearhead" of the First Army through the Normandy Campaign. Thus, the nickname. On 10 September 1944, the 3rd Armored fired what it claimed was the first American field artillery shell into Germany. It also saw action during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, the 3rd served occupation duty in Germany until 10 November 1945 when it was inactivated. It was reactivated 15 July 1947 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. In May 1956, the Division was moved back to Germany, where it remained until July 1992, this with the exception of time when the 3rd participated in the Gulf War. The 3rd Armored Division was inactivated on 17 October 1992. Great for a veteran of the Division, a collector of Armored units, or a general patch collector! I only have a small supply of these, so grab one while they last. I do have more than one of these, so you may not get the exact one that is pictured. The one pictured is representative of the condition of each patch. The one you will receive will be very similar to the one show in the photos.
