You will receive: 4 seedlings of Nandina Heavenly bamboo hardy plant Beautiful ornamental evergreen bush with a fountain/umbrella shapeThe seedlings are 4-10" tall, including roots. The roots will be wrapped in moist paper. These shrubs are easy to grow, they are very hardy. I believe there is no pests damaging leaves, roots of stems. I have never seen bad bugs on or around these bushes. Some people say that birds eat Nandina berries and then they die. This is untrue - the birds do not eat the berries. You will see bright-red berries from November to March and even April, when they drop to the ground. Looks wonderful, like an umbrella, and especially during the fall with its bright reddish leaves... and also around Christmas with its bright - red berries. My mature bushes are 7 ft tall and up to 4 ft wide. The third photo shows beautiful leave colors after the first frost. From Wikipedia: Nandina domestica commonly known as nandina, heavenly bamboo or sacred bamboo, is a species of flowering plant in the family Berberidaceae, native to eastern Asia from the Himalayas to Japan. It is the only member of the monotypic genus Nandina. It is widely grown in gardens as an ornamental plant since it has a number of cultivars that display bright-red fall foliage in the cool months with attractive new foliage growth in spring.Nandina is derived from the Japanese name, nanten. Domestica means ‘domesticated’, or ‘of the household’.Despite the common name, it is not a bamboo but an erect evergreen shrub up to 2 m (7 ft) tall by 1.5 m (5 ft) wide, with numerous, usually unbranched stems growing from ground level. The glossy leaves are sometimes deciduous in colder areas, 50–100 cm (20–39 in) long, bi- to tri-pinnately compound, with the individual leaflets 4–11 cm (2–4 in) long and 1.5–3 cm broad. Nandina is a slow- to moderate-growing shrub. It grows 12 to 24 inches per year, depending on conditions, including location, light, fertility and water. The foliage prefers full sun and some afternoon shade. More fruits are produced when this shrub is planted in groups. It is drought-tolerant, shade tolerant, slightly salt-tolerant, and particularly resistant to damage by deer. Nandinas do well in USDA zones 6 through 9. Once established, nandinas are very drought tolerant plants. Please click on the "see other items" button on top right side of the ad.
