Description: Oval yellow uranium glass cabochons backed with gold foil. They glow bright green under a blacklight indicating the presence of uranium in the glass. The pieces measures 8x6mm. They glow VERY bright and have a beautiful opalescent sheen. Hard to capture a photo of how pretty they are - the photo with a bunch of them all together is the closest to what they look like in real life. Newly made in Czech Republic. You will receive four cabochons. I also have these in a green opal color. I have these in other sizes, and rounds as well. I have other uranium glass pieces for jewelry making available in my shop. Feel free to check out my other uranium glass jewelry items for sale. Shipping is automatically combined for more than one item. I do custom commissions so don't hesitate to contact me if you are looking for something specific. If you are interested in more than one item, feel free to ask for a multiple purchase discount! Uranium glass is glass made with up to 2% uranium dioxide for color. The uranium dioxide content causes the glass to fluoresce bright green under a UV blacklight. Uranium dioxide was added to glass because it produces brilliant, beautiful colors unmatched by any other glassmaking method. I strive to create and source jewelry and components that look as beautiful in natural light as they do under a blacklight. Please note that due to differences in monitor and screen configurations, colors may look different in person than in photos. I do my best to accurately photograph my items, however, blacklight photos can be particularly difficult to take. I use a 395nm for all photos and identification. Uranium glass jewelry is much different than uranium glassware in the variety of colors and glow. The fluorescence can vary widely based on the color, texture, opaqueness, and recipe of the glass. I do my best to accurately describe what to expect with each piece. I take great care to ensure that all of my items are true high-quality pieces of uranium glass. Uranium glass is identified with a UV blacklight, and it's only uranium glass if the item is truly glass, not another material, and fluoresces the telltale bright neon green. If a piece of glass glows bright green in UV light then it contains uranium. No other material or element in glass has that effect. Because of this, uranium glass cannot be faked. Other jewelry components such as resin, plasic, enamel, paint, acrylic, powder coating, glow-in-the-dark materials, some gemstones, and even adhesive can fluoresce green like uranium, so it is imperative for a collector of such glass in jewelry to make sure the glowing item is truly glass. Sometimes an item can glow a dull green rather than bright neon green, and that is due to manganese rather than uranium. The uranium glass in jewelry is the same glass found in the depression-era glassware that is popular with collectors. I treasure hunt all over the world for vintage uranium glass pieces to use in my jewelry, as well as new glass components from Czech Republic. I specialize in sourcing old art deco cabochons, faceted glass stones, and beads both new and old. I also very much enjoy finding vintage uranium glass jewelry pieces. I represent my vintage pieces to the best of my knowledge with all the research I can muster, but from time to time I may get something incorrect, however, I strive to avoid any misrepresentation and will designate if I am unsure of something. All of my own pieces are made with the greatest care and love and have a lifetime guarantee for repair, including free replacement of damage/loss to the glass stones. Please note that for my made-to-order items, the listing photos represent my work on the item I will be making for you, rather than the actual item. The made-to-order item you purchase will look like the exact item in the photo. Please also note that because my rings are glass, they are susceptible to breakage and may not be suitable for every day wear. Despite this, I have great reports from thousands of my customers on the longevity. I am happy to replace stones that break at no charge, however, a select few are extremely rare and cannot be replaced. If you are interested in a ring for daily wear such as an engagement or wedding ring, but are concerned about breakage, I highly recommend one of my spinel rings. The spinels I use look like and glow green just like uranium, but are much more durable because they are gemstones. Please don't hesitate to message me with questions! I am an independent artisan jeweler. Many of my pieces I make by hand to order for each customer, therefore, sometimes my processing times can vary when life happens or there are issues with my material suppliers. I have a 90% or better success rate of completing and shipping orders on time, and over 3k positive reviews on all selling platforms. Giving my customers a good buying experience is my #1 priority, and I ask in return that my customers understand that I am not Amazon. I am happy to answer any and all questions, work with you on processing times, and to solve any issues immediately. Thanks for looking!
