Description: For the Baseball Hobbyist. . . Historically Significant, Numbered-Limited Edition postcard: 1 of 10,000 issued ~ #65 JIM ZAPP [1924-2016], 1948 & 1954 Birmingham Black Barons NEGRO LEAGUE Legends issued in 1991 by R.D. Retort Enterprises Increasingly popular among collectors and serious baseball fans desiring vintage replicas of their favorites are postcards picturing greats, near-greats, journeymen and part-time players who appeared in the old Negro Leagues when Major League Baseball was a segregated game. Offered here is a postcard from the Robert D. Retort sepia postcard series (issued in 1991) which depicts players, teams and game action from the old Negro Leagues. Each card is individually numbered "X" of 10,000 with the unique number imprinted on the back of each card. The R.D. Retort sepia postcards are not reprints in the strict sense of the term. We call them commemoratives. Actually, many are original cards issued many years after the Black Leagues closed up shop. The players, their uniforms and equipment, and even partial views of stadia sometimes seen in the background provide the collector with the briefest glimpse of that time long ago. Each card measures 3-1/2" by 5-1/2" in size, features a nice sepia photograph and usually provides basic information about the player, team or scene on its post card reverse. Condition: Near Mint Note: any number of these fine Negro League postcards can be shipped for the single card shipping cost - if the buyer waits for or requests a combined invoice. ............................... This card comes from a 100-card set which we also sell. Included in that set are the following. (Only the card in boldface type is offered in this listing.)
