Activating Components in Your Hand (Component Test) 1) Clip the red battery clip to the battery positive pole; Clip the black battery clip to the battery negative pole to power up the tester . 2) From Main Menu, select the sixth function icon – ACTIVE, press the OK button to enter the test interface. 3) In Active Test, manually activate the components and test their functionality by using the auxiliary ground lead and tester probe tip: ◾ Press the Left button to power the tester (power flows from the positive lead on battery into the probe tip), ◾ Or press the Right button to make the component grounded (power flows from the negative lead on the battery into the probe tip). When the operation succeeds, LCD screen will prompt user to press button by colored circle . 4) Contact the probe tip to the positive terminal of the bulb, and connect the auxiliary ground lead clip to the negative terminal of the bulb. Press and hold the Left button to power the bulb. If the bulb lights up normally, it indicates that it is working properly. If the bulb fails to light or if the circuit breaker trips, it indicates open circuit or overload. This could happen for the following causes: Bulb damage/open circuit. ◾ The contact user are probing is direct grounded or negative voltage. ◾ The component you are testing is short-circuit. ◾ The component is a very high current component (i.e., starter motor). If the circuit breaker is tripped, reset it by waiting for it to cool down (about 1 minute). 5) User may also directly connect the positive terminal of the bulb to the battery, and connect the tester probe tip to the negative terminal of the bulb. Press and hold the Right button to power the bulb. If the bulb lights up normally, it indicates that it is working properly. If it doesn't light up, follow the above method to find the cause. 6) Other components can also be activated and tested by this method. Frequency and Duty Cycle Mode: The car's electronic control system communicates with various sensors via digital signals. When the car fails, you need to use the instrument to check whether the frequency of the signal or the duty cycle is abnormal. Press the Mode button to enter the menu, and press the Down button momentarily to place the cursor in the frequency mode, and press the Mode button momentarily to enter the frequency waveform display mode. The LCD will display the max and mini voltage value, and display the signal waveform in real-time. You can adjust the sampling frequency by pressing the Up/Down Button.Resistance Testing ModeThe probe contacts one end of the measured resistance, and the auxiliary ground lead is connected to the other end of the measured resistance. The LCD will display the resistance between the tip and auxiliary ground lead. When resistance value is less than 30Ω, the instrument buzzer will alarm and the green LED will light. This function can be used as continuity test.Diode Testing ModeContact the probe tip to diode positive terminal, connect the auxiliary ground lead to the diode negative terminal, the screen will display the forward voltage drop, which indicates forward bias. If swapping the probe tip with auxiliary ground lead, the screen will not display voltage, which indicates reverse bias. It also displays the max and mini values during measurement. Resistance Test: While the tool in this mode, contact the probe tip to a circuit, then the LCD display will read the resistance between the tip and auxiliary ground lead.
