Description: A beautifully engraved silver snuff box from Jerusalem from the late 19th century is finely crafted and is a piece that reflects the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of the region during this period. Gorgeous floral motifs decorate the upper hinged lid in a flowing Rococo style amongst four acanthus branches engraved in a fashion to seemingly pierce through the corners of the central cartouche. Engraved biblical phrases encircle the center cartouche concerning the city of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. A breathtaking landscape of the Western Wall is wonderfully portrayed at the center surrounded by a backdrop of rolling hills. Harmoniously adorned on the underside of this exquisite container are similar Rococo designs with an almost identical central cartouche. On this side, an architectural structure of the burial grounds of the Patriarchs is depicted with biblical phrases surrounding it. The silver has developed a subtle patina over time, adding depth to the engravings and highlighting the detailed craftsmanship. The interior of the box is smooth and polished, indicating both its functionality and its ornamental value. The Rare "Jerusalem" Hallmark that is stamped on the inner parts of this container adds to the box's historical significance as a piece from Jerusalem's vibrant late 19th-century silversmith tradition. 3cm height 10.5cm width 6.8cm depth
