First of all let me specify that the blank for this rod was made in China, and the Fly Rod was assembled by Angler's Roost in the U.S., in a suburb of Buffalo, N.Y. Since Johnny, the old owner passed away after heart surgery at age 80, I don'r know if Angler's Roost is still in business. Also, if you question the quality and workmanship of a Bamboo blank that was made in China, you will be wrong. Think about this. The Chinese were building things out or Bamboo at least 2000 years before the United States existed. I've owned 4 of the Angler's Roost rods for years and I love each one of them. But I have so many Bamboo Fly Rods that I can't even fish all of them in a season, so it makes sense to pare them down. I might've used this rod maybe 5 times. This Rod has 2 tips, and one is 4 inches shorter. That might be why Johnny gave me a good deal on this rod. So you actually have 2 Fly rods. One is 6' 8" and one is 7'.This rod has partial dark Honey colored bamboo. I can't say for sure if has been flamed but it is very nice looking. The Snake Guides and Ring Guide are wrapped in Dark Maroon Silk and tipped with Silver and the Ring Guide has an Amber colored Agate Ring in it. The Ferrules are Nickel Silver. The Grip is Portuguese Cork in a Half Wells shape. The Reel Seat is Up Locking Ring and the Amboyna Burl insert has a cutout for the foot of your fly reel. Another little known fact is there is no such thing as an Amboyna tree. According to the Wood Data Base, (wooddatabase.com) Amboyna comes from the Burl of several species of trees grown in Indonesia.
