Description: This is a modern (1979) proof print by the American Bank Note Company of: $2.00 Obsolete note of the Liberty Bank, Providence, Rhode Island (1854-1883). The central vignette is from a painting "Horses Frightened by a Storm" by the artist Alfred de Dreux. The vignette at the left is "America with Sword and Shield". This vignette was later used on our $20. Demand Note and our first $20. Legal Tender Note. This print is made with the original steel engraved plate from the archives of ABNC. The print is in supurb proof condition. While 20,000 of these prints were made, only 5122 were sold in 1979 and the remaining 14,878 were destroyed.
