Description: George Dewey [18371917] was an Admiral of the United States Navy who is well noted for his victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War. Dewey was a veteran of the American Civil War and is the only person in the history of the United States Navy to obtain the rank of Admiral of the Navy, the most senior rank in the United States Navy. Listed for auction is a [DS] documented signed by Admiral George Dewey. The document is drawn upon the Riggs & Co, Washington D.C. and dated 1 June 1893. The check is completed in his hand and signed ''Geo Dewey'' in black fountain pen. The check measures 8.00 x 3.00 inches and is in fine condition.
