Description: These are a kind of Rube Goldberg replacement part for a discontinued Weil McLain Baseboard Damper Pivot Clip. They actually work fairly well. Each Clip comes with two washers and a screw. These can replace the OEM spring steel pivot clips that came with the baseboard parts. My baseboards are over 40 years old. I removed the damper from one baseboard recently to clean out the dust bunnies. I must have stressed the Damper Pivot Clips too much and I broke two of them. I hate when that happens. So I started a search for replacements and found the part number was 611-411-215. Not finding anything online I contacted Weil McLain support. They advised me that these have been discontinued for a few years and there is no stock available. So... I decided to design my own, Its kind of crazy and awkward to install but they seem to be working. They are plastic, not spring steel so I don't know how long they might last. NO GUARANTEES. If you are in a jam and really need some and are willing to lay down on the floor to install them, then these might work for you. You have to start by removing the front baseboard cover and the damper. Then remove the broken clip(s) from the damper. Note how they are installed off center. The new Clips slide into the damper just like the originals but they are looser. My dampers have been painted a couple times so I had to scrape paint off the ends of the damper and a few places in the middle so the old clips would slide out and the new ones would slide into the desired positions. They have a threaded hole with a counterbore on each end to align the screws easily. After sliding them into position in the damper, a screw is fed through a washer then through a hole in the wall bracket then another washer and finally into the threaded hole in the clip. These can be assembled from either end. You will notice that the hole is off center from the base. It is important to the function of the damper that these be oriented with the hole located away from the wall. This permits the damper to open and close properly. When I installed mine, I had one backwards and had to disassemble, reverse the off-center offset and reassemble. Only took 5 minutes. They can be installed from either the left or right side, because in some situations, you may not be able to get a screwdriver into position on one side or the other because of a wall or other obstruction. You tighten the screws on the wall brackets until you get a little resistance as you rotate the damper. This allows you to adjust the position of the damper and hope it stays there after you have reassembled the front cover. Obviously the threads are plastic so don't overtighten. This auction is for 2 clips. If you want more than 2, contact me and I will set up another auction with a discount for higher quantities. I have no idea if there will be demand for these or not. USPS Ground Advantage shipping is usually a little over $4.00. You pay 4 and I will pay the change. I think the pictures in the auction should be self explanatory for installation but if not, contact me through ebay and I will try to help. If you are not satisfied, I will either refund your payment (less shipping) or ship you replacements (you pay shipping of $4).
