Lived and works in Tel Aviv. Born in Alexandria and a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement in Egypt. In 1950 he immigrated to Israel and lived in Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek until his enlistment in the IDF. From 1958-1962 he studied at the Avni Institute of Art in Tel Aviv. Among his teachers at the institute were the painters Yehezkel Streichman, Avigdor Stematsky, Yehiel Krize, Michael Argov, and Moshe Mokady. Most of them are the founders of "New Horizons" group in Israel. His artistic language was greatly influenced by them, and he saw himself as continuing through them.In 1963 he won a silver medal at an international exhibition of young artists in Rome. Following the scholarship he received, he went to Paris and studied painting and engraving at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts from 1963 to 1965. Oil works were submitted for the exhibition.Since 1963 he was a member of the Association of Painters and Sculptors in Tel Aviv and for several years served as the association's secretary. In 1997 he was invited to stay in Paris at the Cité International des Arts where he stayed for long periods, creating and presenting a number of solo exhibitions there between 1997-1999 and in 2000. He became acquainted with the "Color in Nature" group in 1997. He arranged the group artistically, served as a teacher, facilitator and curator for the group and accompanied the group for several years. His works were exhibited in 19 solo exhibitions between the years 2005-1975, including two exhibitions that were presented at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. He also participated in 19 group exhibitions in Israel and around the world. Among them: an exhibition in Frankfurt in 1981, Zagreb in 1993, Mexico in 1995, an exhibition at the 28th International Festival at the Cannes-sur-Mer Museum in France in 1995 and an exhibition at the Salon d'Automne in Paris in 2000. He served as curator of the Israel Artists’ Exhibition, marking the 60th anniversary of Bat Yam, which was displayed at the Bat Yam Museum in 1987, and as the curator of "Artist Selection", which was displayed at the Artists' House in Tel Aviv in 1993. Died in Tel Aviv in 2008.His style of work belongs to the lyrical abstraction. Yohai painted in panda on paper or cardboard while crumbling and squeezing the color into the paper. His works are somewhat reminiscent of oil works. In his paintings one can sometimes see abstract semi-abstract figures growing out of nowhere within the abstract space. And sometimes in the contours of an abstract imaginary landscape.Solo exhibitions1975 Paintings 1974-1975, New Gallery, Tel Aviv Chemerinsky Gallery Gallery, Tel Aviv 1976 Meirov Gallery of art and culture, Holon 1979 Paintings, Dugith Gallery, Tel Aviv 1980 Paintings, The Artists' House, Jerusalem 1983 Drawings 1982, Tova Osman Gallery, Tel Aviv 1984 The Artists' House, Jerusalem 1985 Yohai – Pastels, Tova Osman Gallery, Tel Aviv Guest artist at the Carmiel Council House 1986 Pastel / Panda, Meirov Gallery of art and culture, Holon 1991 Meirov Gallery of art and culture, Holon 1993 ''Landscapes from the Beginning'', Artists Pavilion, Rishon Le Zion Albert Yohai: Pastel Works on Paper, Ophelia Gallery, The Studio - College of Art Studies, Ra’anana Pastel - Panda Works, Guest Artist Efrat Gallery, Tel Aviv. 1994 Beyond the Balcony, The Bar David Museum for Art and Judaica, Kibbutz Bara'am + Zaritsky Artists House, Tel Aviv 1997-2000 Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris 2005 The Bible House Museum, Tel Aviv 2007 Alternative Gallery, Tel Aviv 2010 The Science of Being, Zaritsky Artists House, Tel AvivGroup Exhibitions1962 Tel Aviv Museum of Art 1978 The Artists' House, Jerusalem 1980 Dugith Gallery, Tel Aviv 1981 Israeli artists in Frankfurt 1985 Landscapes from Genesis, Yad LaBanim Museum, Petah Tikva 1987 Exhibition of Israeli Artists, Bat Yam Is 60, Bat Yam Art Museum 1988 The lyrical painting, Meirov Gallery of art and culture, Holon 1985 Tova Osman Gallery, Tel Aviv 1988 “The abstract and its ways of expression in art”, Meirov Gallery of art, Holon 1990 Panda - No Rules!
