Description: Alphasmart standalone word processing device, in good condition, with the caveat that the right arrow key tends to stick. Other keys work as designed. Keyboard is tested, both standalone and in emulated keyboard mode. (I have too much stuff, and I'm trying to sell it, but it's undeniably convenient to have ADB and PS/2-compatible devices and cables, ready to hand for this sort of situation.) Has the useful feature that it can be used as a keyboard for both classic Macs and classic PCs (or modern machines with an adapter.) Note that it takes a little while to boot up, so it's not totally suitable for entering the firmware or other things that require immediate keyboard input. Cosmetic flaws, as shown -- it has an identifier melted into the bottom case, and various scratches, scuffs, and sticker residue. The keyswitches feel a little stiff to me, and they're not very tolerant of side loads. I think that's the design -- my recollection is that this model was always like that, even when they were new. I guess if you're going to have an electronic typewriter emulation, part of that is the mindfulness element. Hit every key squarely, make every keystroke intentionally. Cables and batteries not included. No AC adapter included. Just the keyboard.
