Description: at Intelligenta Amadeo Modigliani(1884 - 1920)*Portrait of Jeanne Hébuterne - 1918*This figure is a very successful replica from the museum collection, created by the artists of the Parastone Ateliers. Two years before his death, Amedeo painted a portrait of his 21-year-old Jeanne. Since 1916 he lived with this fair-skinned, chestnut-haired young artist. Jeanne's portrait with the large straw hat is considered the most beautiful of the sixteen portraits of her painted by Amedeo. With his typical use of colors, inspired by Byzantine art, he paints a modest, friendly Joan in geometric shapes. The portrait was painted in the year that Jeanne became pregnant with her daughter Giovanna. Two years later she becomes pregnant again, but ends her life the day after Amedeo's death.Amedeo Modigliani's works are immediately recognizable by their typically elongated shapes. In his paintings one can literally feel his passion for sculpture, which he had to give up for health reasons in 1915. He was born in the Tuscan city of Livorno and completed his academic education in Florence and Venice. In 1906 he settled in the famous artists' quarter of Montmartre in Paris, where his talent was immediately recognized by the Eastern European avant-garde. He led a short and very eventful artistic life. Through his passionate work he longed for recognition, but was also marked by alcoholic and metaphysical fears and an ever-progressing tuberculosis. At only forty years of age, Modigliani left the world an oeuvre that testifies to an upright and obsessive search for true and pure art.
