AMAZING 18th century hand painted Indian Chintz curtain Coromandel Coast bed ha

This is a wonderful piece to a bed set, One of the exquisite curtains from the set ~ made of linen ground with appliqued medallions of hand painted Indian Chintz from the Coromandel coast of India. The central design is mind blowing!! Its fabulous !!! These amazing chintz fabrics have a rich history in Europe, even so much so that they were banned by law to be in possession or wear Indian Chintz for many many years throughout Europe. Someone has taken a panel of the hand painted Indian Chintz and cut around the design elements and then appliqued them on to this ground of linen and cotton blend. This was probably reworked in the early 1900s. ~ The hand work involved is amazing. These are even far more beautiful in person ~This is backed in an 18th century hand woven hemp, this is a lovely heavy piece with silk traim at the top. . I cant say enough wonderful things about this piece ~extraordinary!! ~*~ Important and highly collectable! ~ There are some hand written dates on some of the piece 1927 for example which would probably be the date they were reworked ~ A magical textile!!~ MEASUREMENTS: Each of the curtains measures approximately 74 inches long by48 inches wide. CONDITION: This set is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. There are some signs of time and use, this is a very home made textile.
