Description: Up for sale is this antique 1789 copy of, "The History of the Castle, Town, and Forest of Knaresborough, with Harrogate, and its Medicinal Waters. Including an account of the most remarkable places in the neighbourhood. The curios remains of the antiquity. Elegant buildings. Ornamented grounds, and other singular productions of nature and art." The book is overall in good condition with signs of wear and age. The covers have some moderate scuffing and wear. The outer leather joints are heavily cracked and some of the binding cords look like they are broken, but the binding of the book is still holding & sound. The front pastedown has some penciled writing and evidence of bookplate removal. There is about an inch long tear to the front fep near the top of the hinge with a very small spot or two of old dried glue. The interior of the book is generally nice and clean with just some very occasional scattered light foxing & grubbiness. Along with that, there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a minor stain, light wrinkle, creased page corner, tiny chip or tear, etc. The book is a fairly small volume; it measures approximately 6 1/4 inches by 3 3/4 inches and is 330 pages long. It is nicely illustrated with a hand colored folding map, 7 black and white plates, and a few other black and white in text illustrations. Please look at all the photos to further note the condition.
