Description: A spectacular example of Biedermeier-era mourning jewellery just before Queen Victoria was crowned. This 1847 hallmarked mourning ring is set in stunning 18ct yellow gold and boasts a beautiful black enamel glass pane inside which a lock of golden hair has been placed. It is surrounded by gorgeous decorative scrolls, and the outside of the band reads 'IN MEMORY OF'. There is some loss to the enamel on the band. The reverse of the ring bears beautifully engraved initials "M.B". NOTE any box, chains, other jewels and props are for illustration purposes only and are NOT part of the sale. The ring is clearly hallmarked for London 1847. This piece will be professionally packaged and shipped express parcel post with tracking and signature anywhere in Australia.
