Description: Offered is this antique legal document, a warrant of appraisement from Floyd County, Georgia, dated February 3, 1868, less than three years after the end of the Civil War. The document legally allows any three of the five men listed to appraise the "goods and chattels" of the deceased, whose name I can't quite read (see photos #1 & #2). It has been signed by the Ordinary Judge (now generally called the Probate Judge). There is a raised county seal in the lower left corner (see last photo). The back contains the typical filing information. The document is approx. 8 1/2" x 7 3/4". It is in good condition for its age. There are a few tiny holes and a few small tears along the edges and at the fold lines. The paper has yellowed and there is some foxing and spotting and crease lines along the folds. The writing is still mostly readable. The document will be sent folded. Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
