Description: Just acquired from a Southern California estate is this masterful watercolor painting of an Arab man in turban, shown in profile. We don't know who the artist is but it was undoubtedly made by an expert hand. Likely, a French artist of the mid-late 19th century. The work is exceptionally detailed, with the artist even using a scratching technique for the beard. It is initialled lower right with what appears to be EJL, JFL or TJL, or something akin to that.
