Description: A remarkable relic from the late 1800s - a wooden tool box crafted to store a tool set for young boys. This particular model, 800A, was the largest set offered by Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. The interior lid still showcases the original full-color advertisement in vibrant hues and relatively pristine condition. The original wooden insert is also intact and in superb shape. This robust toolbox has stood the test of time with its dovetail construction, dual-hinge lid adorned with blackened decorative molding and trim, and sturdy bronzed cup-style handles on each end. The only missing piece is the catch for the lid's swing hook locking mechanism... and, naturally, the tools themselves. While this box no longer houses any tools (the original held 30 small tools), you could easily add your own or use it as a charming collectible display piece - although I would recommend safeguarding the inner lid print with a UV protective cover or coating to prevent fading from exposure.
