Description: Original early 20th Century oil painting attributed to renowned architect Charles Halloway James (1893-1953) Measures 8" x 16" plus the frame which is 11-1/4" x 18-1/2". The painting is signed C.H. James and the back has a later attribution and title. Presuming the painter is the same person as the architect, it would make sense that this was done when he was young, probably as an art/architecture student, and the materials would date from that time. Someone put this in a reclaimed wood frame that doesn't actually fit, so there is an extra piece of wood at the bottom. The painting would look a lot better in a different frame. Overall the painting is in good condition with some wear and an old repair, as shown. See all photos and contact us with any questions.
