Description: ANTIQUE WPA AMERICAN FOLK ART AAFA CARVED WOOD HORSE OR MORGAN HORSE BREED WITH CROP CUT OFF *TAIL ( *WHICH WAS THE FASHION OF THE EARLY 19TH CENTURY/ 1800's ) THE HORSE WEARS A RIGGING COLLAR HARNESS. OTHER PARTS OF THIS RIGGING INCLUDE WHAT YOU WOULD CALL THE SADDLE, YOLK, AND, PART OF THE ATTACHED CRUPPER.GOOD EXAMPLE IS DAMAGED. THE CARVED WOOD SCULPTURE HAS AGE APPROPRIATE WEAR FROM HISTORY AND USE AND NATURAL WOOD BLEMISHING ALL CONSISTENT WITH TIME. THERE IS DAMAGE TO LEFT EAR THE EAR IS CHIPPED ON SIDE TIP, STILL LOOKS NORMAL AND IS NON OFFENDING AS IT BLENDS TO THE NATURAL SHAPE. TO SCALE RIGGING HARNESS HAS MUCH WEAR AND DAMAGE AND IS BROKEN IN SEVERAL AREAS, AND, WITH MISSING PIECES. HIGHLY DETAILED CARVING MEASURES APPROX 8 1/2" HIGH X 9 1/4" LONG. THE FINE DETAILS FEATURE A GELDED WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE A MORGAN HORSE ( BULRUSH LINE )WITH CHESTNUTS ON EACH OF INNER LEGS AND FACIAL VEINING. INCLUDED ARE HAND PAINTED EYES, EARS, LEGS AND TEXTURED FULL LENGTHY MANE AND CUT TAIL ( CUT TAIL WAS THE FASHION OF THAT ERA ). THE CONFORMATION OR ANATOMY IS THAT OF A WELL DEFINED SPECIMEN. THE RIGHT FRONT HOOF HAS A PROTRUDING PIECE OF WOOD, THIS WAS TO MAKE FIGURE STABLE ON SOME SORT OF BASE. THERE IS NO BASE STAND FOR THIS CARVING.
