The jug/pitcher is decorated in high relief and shows figures including Bacchus and others amid grapes and grape leaves on the body of the piece. The pitcher is dated and marked/signed as Charles Meigh in the characteristic manner of the firm. Artist/Maker: Charles Meigh, Stoke on Trent, England (active1835-1849)Date: September 30, 1844Charles Meigh was a pottery manufacturer in Hanley, Stoke on Trent, and Old Hall Works in the late 1830s to late 1840s and he was the second son of the potter Job Meigh. Condition: In excellent condition consistent with age and wear. Provenance - This piece was acquired from an Indiana Estate whose family has been the sole owner of this piece.
