Description: This listing is for an Old Vintage 19th Century Creil et Montereau French Earthenware Large 11.75" (30 cm) Round Plate / Charger. Wonderful Asian style hand painted thick enamel blue and gold decoration featuring a bird, butterfly, and flowers in the foreground. Sailboats and mountains in the background. Marked on back with impressed "MONTEREAU B & Cie 30" (photos 6 and 7). This mark dates from c. 1876-1884 when Barluet was the director. Also has Asian looking written characters in red. Most likely the artist's signature. It is in great condition overall with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Just usual wear to the gold around outer rim (photos 21-23). No other issues. Very clean and shiny. *(White spots in pictures are glare / lighting from photos and not actually on the item). Please view photos carefully as they are my main description. It is big and very fragile weighing just under 2 lbs before packing and will be securely packaged and double boxed. It measures 11 3/4" (30 cm) across, 1 9/16" (4 cm) tall, and 5 15/16" (15 cm) at the base.
