Description: Antique door hardware manufactured by Sargent & Co (embossed on inside of plate along with numerals "27?"). Over 100 years old. This is a twist turn mechanical door ringer. Front patterned lever plate measure approx. 2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches high.Inside circular assembly is 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Front plate has grey paint over what I believe is cast brass. The unit functions by turning lever on front which rotates a gear and disc on which is mounted two small metal balls on chain link. Embossed under metal balls for orientation is "TOP".No mounting screws included. A unique item.
