Antique Handmade Amish Diamond in a Square Quilt, Lancaster PA, 1930's, 84x84

Description: Antique Handmade Amish Diamond in a Square Quilt from Lancaster PA. Made in 1920-30.This striking quilt is deep red, admiral blue and medium kelly green. The green is a deeper shade and not as irregular looking as it appears in the large photo. The whole quilt is somewhat faded because it had been displayed hanging on a wall prior to it coming into my family (convenient rod pocket on the back). It is machine pieced and hand quilted. The hand stitched quilting is amazing! Very consistent 12-13 stitches per inch, and four different patterns. The blue center diamond has a large "medallion" with a round diamond grid and feathered scrollwork around. Also has a complex curve linear design (trompe-l'oeil) in the corners. The deep red triangles have a diamond grid design. The green sashing has a "four lobed pinwheel in a diamond" design. The blue boarder has a graceful "feathered scroll" design with a lovely and interesting way of turning the corners. The quilt seems to have a wool blanket inside (unfortunately) rather than batting. It appears that while it was hanging it has been snacked on by insects. I have taken several close up photos showing the damage. I have used a penny in the photo to give you an idea of the holes, all very small. I found 5 areas on the front and 7 on the back. The backing material is gray. It also seems that the quilt has been stored in a raw wood cabinet or chest because it has a "fragrance" that is woody or slightly maple-ish. It does not stink. It does not smell like smoke or cat pee or other offensive smells. It is 84" x 84".I am happy to send you additional photos and more description if wanted.
