Description: This is an antique neoclassical French style brass and/or bronze Corinthian column desk or table lamp. I’m uncertain as to exactly how old it is, but I am sensing it dates sometime from the turn of the century, circa 1900s or 1910s. Please use your judgment. The entire lamp measures 21 inches tall (53.3 cm). The column and base section measures 12 3/4 inches tall (32.4 cm). The base measures 6 inches wide (15.2 cm). When I first saw this, I thought the entire lamp was bronze. However, I think that the top section with the Corinthian column section might be bronze and the rest brass. However, the bottom may also be bronze. I’m just not sure. Please use your judgment. There is oxidation/tarnishing throughout the entire lamp. Personally, I think it just has a beautiful old patina. The thin column at the top attached to the sockets stands oh so slightly crooked depending which way you look at it. This probably won’t matter though as the shade would likely cover it. At the very top, I believe there may have been a thin screw-in piece to which you could attach a finial or possibly an extender to make the shade go higher. That piece is not here. The rest of the lamp is in very good condition. The two chains pull very smoothly. The lamp looks like it was rewired at some point and is now working well. However, I always recommend rewiring any vintage lighting. It weighs 3 lbs. 8 oz. (1.594 kg).
