Description: ARTIST: Unknown. Possibly Birtish, because on the back of the canvas is a Winsor and Newton, London stamp. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is an attractive rendering of 2 eagle – most likely white-tailed eagle – chicks sitting by their nest, which is safely placed on an inaccessible steep cliff shelf. The chicks are rather adorable in this plumage – looking rather plump and clumsy. Below the cliff there are other seabirds – most likely gulls – and in the far distance one can make out a few sailing boats. The location of the painting could be some of the rocky isles off the coast of Scotland, although the white-tailed eagle is more commonly found nesting in f.ex. Norway. The painting is dated to 1894. Signed: Monogram: “ACH” in the lower left corner. SIZE: With frame: 41,5 cm/17.9" * 36,5 cm/13.6". Without frame: 34 cm/13.2" * 29 cm/8.9". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains.
