Description: Antique Pair of Porcelain Figurines by Sitzendorf Factory, Germany, c. 1918This product data sheet is originally written in English. This is an antique and rare pair of hand-painted porcelain figurines by the Sitzendorf manufactory, depicting a gallant couple: a young man and a lady playing with small lambs. Both figurines are dressed in elegant 18th-century attire, seated on Rococo-style stools, each holding a lamb on their lap. The lady is even shown feeding her lamb from a bowl with a spoon. The pieces sit on shaped, gilt-highlighted scrolled bases and are hand-painted in vibrant polychrome, featuring delicate detailing, including patterns on the clothing and numerous gilded accents. The bottom of each figurine bears the blue underglaze mark of the Sitzendorf company. The history of Sitzendorf porcelain dates back to 1760. Originally, the factory focused on tableware and decorative items but eventually became known for figurines depicting mythological and historical scenes. In 1850, Wilhelm Liebmann acquired the factory, investing heavily in modern equipment to improve product quality. In 1884, Alfred and Carl Wilhelm Voigt took over, expanding production, especially of lace figurines in the Dresden (Meissen) style. By 1890, they had opened a second factory, employing 300 workers. The factory became renowned for its wide range of porcelain items, including vases, lamps, dolls, bowls, and the Kewpie figurines, popular in the U.S. Sitzendorf porcelain made before 1932 is especially prized by collectors. Dimensions: Height: 13.5 cm, total weight: 575 grams. Condition: Perfect. No chips, even on the flowers and leaves, which is rare. The figurines appear to have been kept safely in a locked cabinet. Please study the accompanying photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of this description. The item will be shipped with full tracking and insurance.
