Description: Description Antique mid-1700s French miniature portrait of a gentleman in a gold-edged red coat, white cravat and powdered wig. Housed under convex glass in a gilt surround within the original shagreen clad oval etui case decorated in gilt piqué point. Further housed in an old presentation box that appears to be original. The shagreen etui measures 2" x 1 3/4" x 5/16". Portrait measures 1 1/4" x 1" oval (sight). Presentation box measures 2 7/8" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/8" height. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Some debris below the convex glass, the shagreen case having a center crack to both sides that does not hinder the structural integrity of the case. Missing two small pique points on the side.
