Description: Maker: The renowned porcelain decorating studio of Richard Klemm produced this exquisite antique bouillon cup and saucer. Klemm's decorating studio was in business in Dresden, Germany, from 1869 to 1949, producing exceptional works in the Meissen and Vienna styles. Many artists decorated porcelain in Dresden in those years but few did it as well as Richard Klemm, one of the original four Dresden porcelain decorating companies, known for its vibrant and finely detailed designs and for its superb quality. Marks and age: The studio's classic RK blue crown mark is on both pieces of this set along with the attribution "Germany". This mark was in use between c1891 and c1914. In 1915 the phrase "Made in Germany" was added to the mark. Source: Dresden Porcelain Studios by Jim and Susan Harran. Design: The pattern features small cartouches of gold flowers on a vivid green band and bands of ornate gold gilding on a background of fine pure white porcelain. Condition: There are no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains or crazing. One handle has been broken and has been restored with two old rivet or staple repairs, a practice that was common in the 19th century before advanced adhesives were developed. These are shown in the photos with the red arrows and are visible in many other photos. Size: The saucer is 6 inches wide. The cup is 4 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches tall. The set weighs 9.8 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully – they are an important part of the description.
