Description: Delightfully tactile coquilla nut shaped in the form of an egg and carved with swags and rosettes which dates from the early 19th Century. It is an earlier and rarer form compared to the more commonly found coquilla nut egg which is pierced and carved with concentric circles and is usually described as a pomander or a thimble holder. The two nuts that form each end of this egg, on the other hand, are hand carved with a naive design and unpierced. The snuff box possesses a nice colour and patina. Dimensions: 6 cm length x 3.8 cm width Condition: In good overall condition. Some of the thread is missing but enough has survived for the two halves to screw together and for it to display well.
