Description: Late 19th century English Staunton chess set with box and folding board 1900-1910. The pieces hand carved and turned, one side ebony and the other side boxwood, original polished finish. For age and use in good condition, complete (32), felted, carved knights, good playing design, lead weighted. King height is 3.0 inches, in the original lift top mahogany box and leather travel bag. Together with a period folding games board, exterior shows a chessboard with Indian rosewood and boxwood playing squares, some age lines in the squares. The box opens to a backgammon section with additional ebony and bone inlay. Some age related wear and use, overall in attractive condition. Includes a set of quality antique turned backgammon and draughts pieces, 15 ebony and 15 boxwood in a leather bag, two leather cups and dice. UPS Ground Delivery
