Each bead represents a specific mantra or prayer, and the user would move from bead to bead while reciting the mantra. This is natural jadeite, a highly valued form of jade that's translucent and can be polished to a high luster. Large chunks in various shades of celadon green were used to create 18 beads carved with faces and a center bead with an inscription.
