Description: Up for consideration is an antique original late Victorian hand painted continuous 4 panel parchment and fabric shade. There are 4 panels of which 2 are open water with a sky and 2 are with swans in the water. The corners of the shade are chamfered and have and inch wide strip...Each panel is tapered and measures about 11 by 17 inches without the corners or fringe. The scenes continue into the adjacent side. This is called a continuous scene. You just don't see these shades at all any more...back in the 80's when I started you might still the odd shade as such but they were usually taped together or there were massive holes. If you look through some of the vintage shades people are making them by hand again in the same form of silk with beads and considering the labor and material put into them they are asking above a few thousand dollars for fun...nonetheless enjoy...
