Description: We have here a wonderfully handsome antique architectural salvage piece out of Northern California in the form of a dog type Griffin creature, an architectural motif. This guaranteed antique striking piece was I believe…. initially the top of an ornately carved chair. It is in great structural condition. The hole for the post of the chair is visible on the bottom. I could be wrong. It could’ve been used for something else besides a chair, but it was a top and adorned the chair. I have seen these type of chairs that are griffins. The piece can stand on its own if you like or on a shelf. The head and curved arm body is carved with lovely detail, I have never seen a dogs head before. I have seen Griffiths, but not a dog. A lot of. The color of the wood, a rich oak, deep brown, is wonderfully mellowed giving it a great patina. There have been no repairs, gluing or anything done to this whatsoever. It is made out of two pieces that were put together years and years ago and they are still intact and very nice. It measures 13" long, 3 1/2” wide and curves up to 4 3/4” Use these as decoration in your garden or in your home or you can even repurpose for an art project or assembly art...whatever you can think of!
