Description: The Argus C-3 informally known as the "Brick"is a 35mm rangefinder camera. It was made in Ann Arbor MI for 27 years, starting in 1939, with about two million sold. It has a coupled rangefinder with a viewing window right next to the main viewfinder, like a Leica screw mount camera. The normal lens is a 50mmm f/3.5 Cintar. Interchangeable lenses from 35mm to 135mm were available. I don't know how easy they are to find now. I do know that changing lenses is a slow process, matching up the lens with the two geared wheels of the rangefinder. Flash connection is via two holes on the left side, not a standard mount. Shutter speeds range from 1/10 to 1/300. A switch below the shutter release rotates between B (Bulb) and I (Instant)The lens stops down to f/16. Close focus is three feet. The lever on the left front of the camera is not a self-timer but the knob to cock the shutter. The camera is Very Good condition for its age. Some paint has worn off the shutter cock lever and the chrome in places also. The leatherette is lifted up a small bit along the strips by the focus knob, finder windows, and shutter speed dial. Since the photos were made, I found the small piece of leather missing on top right by shutter speed dial and I have replaced it. The camera operates properly. Some paint is off the lever to cock the shutter (looks like the self-timer on many cameras, but it's not). I found it difficult to open and then close the back of this camera. I was successful using the dull side of a can opener ("church key") to press down the release latch. I am selling the cameras and photo equipment I have collected over the past fifty years. They have not been film tested but appear to function correctly (film winds on, shutter fires, f/stops change, focus works). Shutter speeds sound approximately correct to my ear but speeds have not been electronically tested. I have disclosed any problems that I am aware of and have tried to act like a fussy sharp-eyed buyer in evaluating the cameras and lenses. The items have been stored in an air-conditioned non-smoking home. Remember that many of these items are classics, over fifty years old, and inevitably will show some wear and signs of age. To avoid customs delays and hassles, I will only ship to the USA or Canada and accept only payments via PayPal. Please ask any questions before you bid. My goal is to make every buyer fully satisfied and each transaction free from hassle. Please let me know if you are not satisfied with the item received. I would appreciate positive feedback if you are pleased with the transaction.
