ASAHI PENTAX SPOTMATIC SP "GOLD EDITION" WITH GOLDEN SUPER-TAKUMAR 1.8/55 RARE

Description: Offered to you is this very rare and seldom offered or seen gold plated Pentax Spotmatic SP which is coming with a gold plated Pentax Super-Takumar 1.8/55. There’s not much information to be found about this rare camera but it’s probably produced in the 1970s’. The camera has got serial number : 1314751 and the lens has go serial number : 1976810 and comes with the golden lens cap included. Officially, this Spotmatic was never offered for sale, but was given away to a few very good Pentax photo dealers. Some cameras were also given to winners at the Asahi Pentax World Photo Contest in the early 70s. As far as I know, there were different versions of which the first models still had the normal black leather covering on the housing and the lens was engraved in white on the front, just like this set. The later models had brown snakeskin and a black engraving on the lens. Also other leather coverings have appeared but were probably done later. Unfortunately, the camera is not in a working condition, the gilding is no longer perfect after more than 50 years and has some fine scratches as there is also a small dent on the prism (as you can see on the attached image). Since the camera was placed in a cabinet, the focal plane shutter is defective and therefore it’s not possible at the moment to actually shoot pictures with it . Still it’s one the nicest and most collectable Pentax camera available on e-Bay at the moment , so make sure you do not miss out on such a rarity before it’s sold and no longer available for sale.
