Description: Offering a stunning, Asian inspired antique Art Nouveau, silver links bracelet from former New York silver designer, George Shiebler (1846-1920). This bracelet measures 6 3/4" long not including the double tongue latch of the clasp. Each panel link measures 6/8" X 1". This fascinating bracelet features 6 panels with creatures and plants from the sea: a sea snake - a fish - a lobster or crayfish - a mermaid clinging to seaweed - water reeds - sea horse. On each end of the bracelet is a half panel connected to the latch. On these two half panels are Asian character markings. A poem? A dedication? I don't know. It is possible he made this piece for a private client. On the back of the bracelet a date is inscribed, April 30, 1885. There is also an engraved 625 Sterling with the winged Shiebler hallmark logo with S at the center. This bracelet is almost 140 years old yet there is no structural damage and the clasp locks tightly. The silver used here is heavy and thick, even the links are stronger than usual for that time. There is light tarnish. This is a wonderful and possibly unique piece of sterling jewelry art. FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING!
