Description: Listing is for a set of discontinued/out-of-production, HO scale, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) items:The 8-wheel, 50’ heavy-duty flatcar is Athearn kit #1295. It is molded in green plastic.The M1 Abrams is Roco item #352S. It, too, is molded in green plastic.This is a nice looking home-made/kit bashed set to simulate the rail transportation of the Army’s main battle tank.To prevent the tank from sliding off the flatcar’s deck, two small pins have been inserted into the treads and fit into holes that already existed in the deck (similar to how Athearn would attach loads to the cars). As a result, the tank can be removed if desired (just be careful since the pins will remain in the treads unless pulled out or cut off).The side sills of the flatcar reflect DODX 39900 and other data in white lettering. However, because the load limit and light weight data are reversed, the “Standard Guide to Athearn Model Trains” lists its availability as "ER4: Manufacturing error, extremely scarce. It is in very good shape (no broken corner stirrup steps or deck hand holds; however, there are also some minor scratches around the holes from where the pins from the tank are inserted. Comes with truck-mounted KD knuckle couplers.The turret on the Abrams rotates 360° and the main gun can be elevated. It is good shape but does have a few minor glue smears where details were attached. Both the tank and car will be shipped in an Athearn box. The box the tank came in will also be included as will the extra pieces shown in the pictures. Unit will be carefully packed to prevent it from being damaged while being shipped.Pictures reflect item actually being sold and is described as well as possible but is being sold “as is”.
