Description: Up for sale a handblown and handmade deep marine blue glass round trinket or dresser box with medal mounts is unmarked, but attributed to the Moser Glass Company, a luxury glass manufacturer which was founded in 1857 in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic and is still in business today. This trinket or dresser box or bibelot standing on a round foot dates from the Art Nouveau period of the early 20th century 1910-1920. The marine blue glass of the trinket or dresser box is embellished by gilding on the lid and the body of the round box. The gilding on the lid is finished in such a way as to create a star shape of blue glass lid which is further embellished with gold petaled flowers with white centers. On the gilded areas of the trinket box lid are raised white swirling curlicues that resemble vines or tendrils. Around the edge of the lid is a beaded border of painted little white dots. The round foot of the trinket box measuring 3.125" in diameter and has a polished pontil mark indicating that this piece was handblown and handmade.. Overall this lovely gorgeous blue glass Art Nouveau vessel measures 3.5" H x 5.25" in diameter. Very good antique condition. The provenance of this beautiful trinket bibelot vessel is quite interesting as it was related to me by my consignor client: "The glass belonged to my great aunt Margaret Timm who was the older sister of my paternal grandmother. She married Mr Harry Timm in 1900 in NYC at a church on 9th Avenue and 28th Street called Holy Apostle. Harry was the son of the Postmaster in Cold Spring, NY on the Hudson River. The newlyweds went out West as Harry was working for the Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Co. They survived the earthquake of 1906 in San Francisco. Harry died young and Margaret lived for 30+ years in style on what he left her in Seattle; she would come East twice a year to visit her younger sister's family, taking a suite at The Grammercy Park Hotel. She had fresh violets delivered to her every day to wear on her dress. Fascinating lady who was al of 4'10" tall and wore a size 4 shoes that she always had custom made."
