Description: Baedeker's Northern Germany 1897 tourist guide with 89 litho maps and plans (Old Books, 19th Century Books, Tourism, Travel Guides, Germany, Books with Maps). Northern Germany as Far as the Bavarian and Austrian Frontiers: Handbook for Travellers by Karl Baedeker. 12 revised edition published 1897, Leipzig by Karl Baedeker Publisher. 442 pages plus 11 page index to Berlin street maps. Text in English. Contains 33 folding maps & 56 plans (total of 89 maps). Publisher's cloth binding, gilt title lettering with blind ruled covers. The guide book is physically old and shows some signs of handling and time, yet is still very fresh and tight, likely never actually used much. The guide book is not new or in "new" condition. Binding gently age worn, light small minor cloth age staining, remains overall attractive as a book. Text block paper is uniformly gently toned, most maps remain fresh and appear rarely unfolded, internally still well preserved, tight, sound. Still attractive on the shelf. Book displays a pleasing and unique age patina and is in nice antiquarian condition, any age flaws easy to overlook or forgive. Please review photos for more detail and our best attempt to convey how this antique pocket guide survives. Book Measures c. 6 1/4" H x 4 1/2" W. [B2649].
