Description: Antique clothing button was produced in the 1800s. The button is made of two layers of mother-of-pearl -- the top layer looks like abalone and the bottom layer is white. Both portions of the cap / hat have been etched. There is a brass loop shank embedded in the back. Please refer to the ruler pictured in the image for the exact button size. Overall condition: Solid VG+/Excellent..... The button may have slight surface wear -- but there are no cracks, chips, or other more serious flaws. It is in very nice shape and it will display beautifully. My mom -- Nancy Moran -- was a longtime member of the National Button Society, plus was active in several local button clubs in New York. She downsized her collection before passing away in 2020, so I have been helping her sell some of her treasures. But I am not familiar with all the terminology and intricacies of button collecting.
