Description: Bavaria Tirschenreuth Plate Hand Painted Carnations Strap Leaves 1903-1927 Gold Exquisite Decorative 8 1/4" SMOOTH RIM PLATE from Bavaria Tirschenreuth Porcelain Factory, Hand Painted CARNATIONS w/Green Strap Leaves, WIDE GOLD Border on Rim, circa 1903-1927 DESCRIPTION: This plate was hand painted by a talented artist using the pink, purple, yellow and green color palette on the white porcelain. On the front of the plate, the white porcelain is painted with a very light cream wash. The carnations range from fully opened flowers to completely closed buds and look beautifully realistic. There are grey ghost leaves in the background to give depth to the painting. The trim on the rim is a wide, uneven band of gold with some of the hand painted flowers flowing over the gold. This plate is absolutely beautiful, so bright and cheerful! CONDITION: While this plate is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. See the photos to judge the beauty and condition for yourself. DIMENSIONS: The plate is 8 1/4" with a height of 1". HISTORY/MARKS: Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther formed his company in 1814 in Hohenberg an der Eger, Bavaria and his son, Lorenz Hutschenreuther formed his company in 1857 in Selb, Bavaria. This latter company acquired P.T. Porcelain Factory in 1927 and then in 1969 was merged with the former company and continued operation as Hutschenreuther AG (Selb, Bavaria) until 1994 when the Tirschenreuth factory was closed due to bankruptcy. This plate has the green underglaze "P.T." mark on it. The P. T. Bavaria (Porcelain Factory Tirschenreuth founded 1838 in Tirshenreuth, Bavaria. The mark on this is mark #9 from the website marks4antiques which was used 1903-1927. After Hutschenreuther purchased the pottery in 1927, the mark was modified. This also has the lighter green "Hand Painted" mark on the back. Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
