Description: Ben Hampton - Framed Art "Standing Proud" - Montage Released May 1978 This montage is a tribute to the Confederate soldiers, the unknown and unsug heroes of the Civil War. The old Lee and Gordon Mill, which still stands today, was used to hold prisoners for a short time in the Battle of Chickamauga. General Nathan Bedford Forrest is the central figure of the montage. He joined the Confederate Army as a private, but his courage, leadership, and shrewd military tactics led to his quick promotion to Lieutenant-General. Affectionately know as "Ole Nate", he returned to his plantation upon retiring from the army in 1865. He died in 1877. Frame size is 29.5 x 29.5. Excellent used condition.
