About Blue Miyuki Medaka Blue miyuki is a variety of medaka with "external light" referring to the bright shining scales covering its back. When the light strikes the scales just right, they will look metallic and blue. Their fins are also tipped with metallic blue color. They can be raised in both light and dark colored tubs, but light colored tubs are known to better express their external light. Medaka ricefish do best in groups of 6 or more and prefer 20 gallon or larger aquariums for these optimal group sizes. They do great in planted patio ponds and thrive in a wide range of climates. These fish are raised outdoors all year round and are bred for heat tolerance and hardiness. Shipping Live fish will be shipped in methylene blue solution and in insulated boxes with heat/cold packs depending on the weather conditions.
