Description: Bomarea multiflora (B. caldasii) This stunning Alstroemeria relative from northern South America is one of the most desirable of the entire genus. Offering large umbels of 1 1/2" orange and yellow, funnel-shaped flowers that are spotted brown within, this beauty is a twining, herbaceous climber with simple, lance-shaped leaves. Blooming from late spring to fall, the beautiful, terminal flower heads are followed by walnut-size pods that pop open when ripe, displaying glossy orange clusters of seeds. Growing to 10' tall, this tuberous rooted climber requires full to half sun in cool climates, and filtered sun in warmer climates; morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal. Bomarea prefers acidic to neutral, well-drained yet constantly moist soil. In my coastal northern California climate (USDA Zone 9B), the plants are only semi-deciduous. In colder climates they will be completely deciduous, and in warmer climates will be evergreen. Hardy to zone 8 with protection from hard frost. Can be grown in large pots in a cool conservatory or greenhouse. Very rare, and seldom offered! Please Note: This is a plant that resents temperatures much above 85 degrees F. for extended periods. This offering is for one, near-blooming-size, seed-grown plant in a 1-gallon pot. Shipped in pot. The last couple photos are of the plants being shipped. The flower photo is for reference only. The plants should bloom within 1-2 years. I have been growing rare and exotic plants for nearly 50 years, and take great pride in what I grow and ship. All photos are of plants in my own garden and collection (unless stated otherwise). NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING - SORRY - I ONLY SHIP TO THE US. I do combine shipping for multiple items - please request a new shipping total before checking out. Please Note: requesting combined shipping can not be done on a phone - the request must be made from a computer or tablet.
