Description: I have a very large collection of collection of books spanning many topics. A massive gathering of Philip K Dick titles and editions, some of which will be appearing here shortly. The entire set is in solid VERY GOOD+ condition. Issue 1 has a minor stain to the lower corner, but only to the page, not the ticket. Issue 4 has a chip to the right edge of the rear panel (SEE IMAGE). Set is preserved in an acid-free archival bag. Suitable for framing. This series was limited to 850 copies each of issue, offered monthly (12 issues) to members of the Book Club of California in 1949. This set offered here only includes issues 1-8, lacking the final 4 issues. The Clipper series was designed and printed by the Grabhorn Press. Single sheet folded books, closed measuring approx 8.5inT x 10inW, opening to a full 20in wide. Each booklet comes with a lengthy history of the featured Clipper Ship, and includes a color facsimile of the card issued announcing the ships delivery and arrival in San Francisco during the mid-late 1800's. Each facsimile announcement is an actual ticket affixed to the inner rear panel. The Clipper Cards in this set are: Reporter, Fleet-Wing, Ontario, Pauline, Lookout, Ericsson, Silas Fish and St. Charles. The Book Club of California was established in 1912 and has operated steadily throughout the 20th Century, still in circulation as of now. This Book Club has the distinguishing honor of being the only association in America to continually publish fine press books since 1914. The mission of the Club originally was to focus on the arts as related to the production of books. Early on, they adapted the focus more on the history and culture of California and the West. Authors, poets, historians, artists and publishers were contributors to the books and publications of the club. Ansel Adams, Alfred Knopf, Faith Baldwin, Ward Ritchie and Lawrence Clark Powell are but a few of the notable members of this Club. I will happily answer any further questions. Making offers: I certainly can appreciate wanting a better deal, and I've made offers myself on my own purchases. To be up front, if and when you make an offer, I will automatically reject crazy low "give it away" offers. Best not to waste our time. With a more reasonable offer, I will review current pricing for other comparable items out there and either accept, counter or decline submitted offer. If in that review, I find my pricing is already LOW and outdated, I may then increase the price to bring more in line with other offerings. I spend a lot of time sourcing the best offerings, preparing the listings with images and clear descriptions, and price fairly in MOST cases. I remain grateful to all who consider my offerings, and I look forward to serving your needs respectfully and with success. Shipping: International buyers -- I utilize the eBay Global Shipping Program, having found it quite stable. US buyers -- I utilize the USPS, shipping by whichever method you choose. If you desire a different shipping method, you are encouraged to contact me in advance of purchase to discuss options. I've packed books securely for 3 decades and will take great care with your order. Economy shipping will be via USPS first class, media or parcel post depending on final weight and item. Securely protected. Priority mail will ship in a medium flat rate envelope or different box depending on your selection, securely protected.ANY overage on the highest priority shipping charge (boxed) will be credited after shipping. Insurance will be an additional charge if desired. Typically, I will ship within 72hrs of payment, striving for closer to 48hrs. Will gladly ship faster if we connect in advance so I can make arrangements. Will combine multiple orders to save on shipping. eBay may assess sales tax based on the state requirements for where you reside. This is not something in my control, nor do I handle that in any way. Thank you for considering this offering! :-)) View more great items
