Description: (3) unused box Quick Frozen Sliced STRAWBERRIES 1944 BOOTH Fisheries Corp.Free Shipping to U.S. Up for sale are.....a lot of three (3) vintage frozen food containers – unused.They are for Quick-Frozen Sliced Strawberriesfrom Booth Fisheries Corporation, Chicago, Illinois; copyright 1944These 80-year old containers are a tangible piece of the early history of the frozen food industry. They represent a point in time that is less than 15 years after Birdseye first pioneered quick-frozen foods. Birdseye first test-marketed a variety of frozen food in 1930 (to a handful of retail outlets). Though the industry was growing through the 1930’s, only 6 years prior to the 1944 date on these cartons (in 1938), only certain areas of the United States sold frozen foods at all. Great sections of the country had no cabinets and no distributors, so the products were simply unavailable. Also in these early years, the key players were engaged in legal battles over patent rights. About a year before the date on these containers, Booth and the parent company of Birdseye, opposed each other in court over such legal claims. CONDITIONThese three (3) 80 year old un-used boxes are in very good condition.As can be seen in the scans and photos, they are free of tears or creases; but have scattered light soiling/dust. The made-up box in the photos is for illustration - all three boxes you receive will be FLAT.If the new owner of these wishes to assemble them, it is suggested that it be done at a somewhat warm temperature - as the boxes are slightly brittle. ********************* Feel free to ask questions Thanks for looking !
